In a day when we yearn for true leaders whom we can trust, who perform the duties of their office with compassion and zeal, whose integrity remains in tact inspite of their political success, we'd like to feature those rare people who have come along over the years who are true leaders. We're honored to present information about some of those who richly deserves this description.

Ground-breaking Black Women

  • Marjorie Lee Browne: oneof the first African-American women to gain a Ph.D. in Mathematics
  • Rebecca J. Cole: second United States African American woman physician and was the first Black woman to graduate from the Woman's Medical College in Pennsylvania.
  • Charity Adams Earley: Major Charity Adams was the first African-American woman in the Women's Army Corps in WWII
  • Evelyn Boyd Granville: second black woman in the United States to receive a Ph.D. in Mathematics
  • Althea Gibson: first black player to compete in and to win the Wimbledon and the US National Women's Tennis title
  • Martha Euphemia Lofton Haynes: The first african american woman to earn a Ph.D. in Mathematics
  • Norma Sklarek: a pioneer in many areas of the architectural profession
  • Sarah Breedlove Walker: First American women to become a millionaire. Ran the largest business owned by an African American in mid-late 1800's.
  • Madam C. J.Walker (1867-1919) Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Social Activist
  • Phillis Wheatley: Precursor of American Abolitionism
  • Phillis Wheatley: first African American, the first slave, and the third woman in the United States to publish a book of poems
