Pet Food Recall

On March 16, Menu Foods, Inc. recalled dog and cat foods produced at two of its facilities between Dec. 3, 2006, and March 6, 2007, and sold under a number of different brand names. Since then, Menu Foods has expanded its recall and several other companies also have voluntarily withdrawn products from the market. See the links below for complete listings.
The FDA's investigation remains open and active, and the agency continues to follow leads to get closer to the root cause of the problem and to ensure that all contaminated product is removed from the market.
In the What Pet Foods Have Been Recalled? section of the FDA's web site, there are a variety of ways to check for your pets favorite foods. A complete list is available as an Excel file entitled "Combined List of Recalled Pet Food Products" (MS Excel, 980KB). It is a lengthy spreadsheet, so don't forget to scroll or for an easier time, try using the Excel "find" or "search" feature. Instructions below.
- Go to EDIT, scroll down the pop-up list and
- Click FIND.
- A pop-up window called "Find and Replace" should appear.
- In the text box following "Find what:" type the name of your pet's food or the company name, such as "Purina".
- Then, click the button at the bottom of this pop-up window that says FIND NEXT.
- Notice that the "cell highlight" will jump to "Purina".
- Click FIND NEXT again to search for more entries under "Purina".
