Born: March 18, 1941
Deceased: January 19th, 2006 at age 64

Wilson Pickett was an African-American R&B / southern soul singer known for his raw, passionate delivery. Before signing with Atlantic records, Wilson Pickett sang with the Falcons, a group with R&B hits: I Found a Love." " If You Need Me" and "It's Too Late". Pickett was with Atlantic Records from 1963 to 1972. Working with the talented studio bands at Stax Studios in Memphis, Tennessee and The Fame Studio in Muscle Shoals Alabama, Pickett put out hits such as, "In the Midnight Hour", "Mustang Sally", "Land of 1000 Dances" and "Funky Broadway."

Wilson Pickett signed with RCA in 1972, but was not as successful as before. He went back to Muscle Shoals in 1978 and recorded "Funky Situation" under his own 'Wicked' label. Over the years, Pickett continued to tour. In 1991 he took an important role in the shaping of the movie, "The Commitments" and was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. In 1999, Pickett returned to the studio to record his first studio album in 12 years, "It's Harder Now".
