CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS! Join Save the Sound for a major dune restoration project at Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme. Volunteers will be planting native dune grass, beach plum, and bayberry along a newly constructed culvert at the mouth of Bride Brook, Connecticut's second-largest herring run. SAILFEST 2010 Sailfest, Downtown, New London, CT
Sailfest is Southeastern Connecticut's premiere summertime event attracting over 300,000 people over the three-day festival. Complete with a major fireworks display, amusement rides, free entertainment, Tall Ship, and over 100 vendors lining the downtown streets. Sailfest produces five stages of free entertainment with musical genres ranging in Rock, Celtic, Hip Hop, and Blues. Kids enjoy free shows and entertainment throughout the event. Sailfest also showcases the 2nd largest fireworks display in the Northeast, sponsored by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. Bring the kids to enjoy FREE shows all weekend. Tour the Mystic Whaler at City Pier, enjoy amusement rides, visit over 100 vendors lining the streets and more.
