USA Women & World Championship 2006

Trials for the USA Championship Team are scheduled for May 18-21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The FIBA Americas U20 Championship For Women, Aug. 9-13, will feature teams from North, South and Central Americas and the Caribbean. The top three finishing teams qualify for the 2007 FIBA U21 Women's World Championship that will be held July 27-Aug. 5 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

From September 12th to the 23rd, 2006 national women's basketball team will gather in Sao Paulo, Brazil for the fifteenth world championship. Sixteen countries compete in four groups (A, B, C and D). The top three teams from each preliminary group advance to form two second round groups consisting of six teams each. Each team's results from its preliminary group carries over to the second round standings and each team will play the other three teams in the second round group whom they have not faced previously. The top four teams from those two groups will advance on to the medal round to be played on September 23 2006.

21 April 2006 2006 USA Women's Senior National Team's Spring Training A Success: Colorado Springs, Colorado: The 2006 USA Basketball Women's Senior National Team completed a successful spring training that saw a total of 26 athletes, including eight Olympic gold medalists, compile an overall 10-1 record against top national and professional teams, capture the 2006 Opals World Challenge title and compete in four different countries from March 1 - April 13.
