Eastern Women's Baseball Conference

The Eastern Women's Baseball Conference (EWBC) was initiated in 2000, but has its roots in the Washington Metropolitan Women's Baseball League (WMWBL). The WMWBL was founded in 1990 by Lydia Moon, a graphic artist from Rockville, MD. She had been inspired by the American Women's Baseball Association, which was established in the Chicago area in 1988. During the first year of the WMWBL, players showed up for informal pickup games. In 1991, three teams played in formal games.

The Eastern Women's Baseball Conference provides opportunities for girls and women to play organized baseball and preparing amateur female baseball players for national and international competition. The EWBC uses Major League Baseball rules and includes teams from the metropolitan areas of Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. Women and girls who are interested in playing on an EWBC team should send us an e-mail (ewbc@att.net) or call us toll-free at 1-877-GET-EWBC for more information.

Baseball Girls
From 7-year-olds playing baseball, learning the rules of the game, to 60-year-olds playing slo-pitch softball, BASEBALL GIRLS explores the private and professional lives of women obsessed with the sport they love. Using animation, archival stills and live-action footage, this zany and affectionate feature documentary details the history of women's participation in the largely male-dominated world of baseball and softball.
